Agile Immersion Workshop

A 1-day workshop designed for people that are new to agile. During this workshop participants learn how agile works and put that knowledge to use creating a product using an agile process. Participants take turns playing various roles in the process so that every attendee gets a chance to experience agile from all the different perspectives. Each attendee leaves with not only head knowledge about agile, but a deeper understanding based on having experienced it.

Pre-requisites:

None, but general reading about agile processes may be helpful.

  1. Understand the principles that drive a successful agile process.
  2. Know the basic agile process and roles.
  3. Gain agile experience through immersion in a project spanning the entire course.

Description:

This one day immersion into the world of agile process is specifically for people that are new to agile. It assumes no prior knowledge of any agile process. The first part of the workshop deals with the hows and whys of agile. The second part is an immersion exercise designed to allow each participant to experience an agile project from inception to release.

During the immersion portion of the workshop each participant will be part of a team which will complete an agile project. The exercise is fun, yet challenging. It encourages participation and group learning. Each participant will experience release planning, iteration planning, standup meetings, iteration demonstrations, iteration retrospectives and a release. After having executed each piece of the process the attendees will have a better understanding of the process and some of the nuances of why things are dong in certain ways.
