Making Agile a Reality™
August 2008 Edition

Introduction

Those of you receiving this newsletter are very special to Agile For All.  You have either attended one of our courses, or you signed up to be on the mailing list at a conference, workshop or other seminar.  If after reading the contents of this newsletter you no longer wish to receive our emails, please use the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the message.

Our hope is that this newsletter will be sent out once per month to all subscribers.  If you live in certain geographic areas you may receive a 2nd email during the month if we have an upcoming appearance in your area.  Unless that is the case, you won't receive mailings from us.  We absolutely do not allow others to use our email list, so you don't have to worry about spam from third parties.

Now forthe good stuff!  We are very excited about the start of the newsletter.  Although this edition is just the basics, future editions will have more important information.  We are very active in the agile/scrum communities and intend to bring you the best from what is available on the web.  Hopefully each edition will make you ponder something in a different way, or help you learn a new concept.  If you have questions about agile or scrum, send them to us for possible inclusion in the newsletter.

Enjoy, and until next month, keep improving!
Our Website Is Live!

After several months of being agile about creating the Agile For All website, we are pleased to announce that it is finally available!  Go to http://www.agileforall.com and see for yourself.  We will be continuously adding content over the coming months.  We hope to have new blog entries every week (an unrealistic goal, but something to shoot for).  Please check out the site and give us feedback.   Remember that for the blog you can sign up via RSS to receive updates when they are created.

The first real post on the blog concerns the “manager” title and what word could be used instead in an agile environment.  I hope to see some participation on that one.  I’m very interested in what other people think because I believe the way we see these roles is critical to the success of any agile implementation.

Agile Bob says...

A little introduction is in order here.  One of our clients created the "Agile Bob" nickname for Bob Hartman.  We kind of like it, so we're going to run with it and see what happens!

The first installment of this newsletter feature is going to be rather brief.  In fact, it is a single thought: Agile is NOT about creating more software faster, but rather creating the right software as fast as possible.  An interesting side effect of this is how perceptions change when the highest value software is delivered at regular intervals.  When high value software is delivered quickly it makes it appear that more software is being written faster!

What do you think of this way of looking at things?  Does it help you explain agile to others in a different way?  Will it be useful?  Do you not believe it?  Give us some feedback and perhaps we'll answer in the newsletter or on the blog at www.agileforall.com/blog.
